Who is Fille Pompette?

travel/art/feminism/rock and roll.

Welcome to the fille pompette (FEE pomPET or tipsy girl because I like my vices) diary of a maladjusted, self-indulgent heroine for our times. I’ve lived/loved/worked in many countries, been having an existential crisis for ten years and it’s been fun as hell. I write for those vagrants with momentum and a penchant for hedonism; I think too much and I’m always honest.

This is loosely a travel blog: a cyber paper trail of manic diatribes, anecdotes, and impassioned narratives about life through the differing circumstances of an over-caffeinated, under-boozed, frenzied femme-vagabond.

I do this so you don’t have to.

Lately of San Francisco, currently based out of Madrid teaching English to Spanish children; traversing life in all its aesthetic splendor.

I’m also a poor speller (look into the face of my humanity).

Hi!!! I am spreading the love, and just nominated you for the Liebster award! My last post has the details!

I like things with “award” in the name…I’m gonna have to check this out!

  3. I’m here because you liked a post of mine last night. And I totally love your blog; planning to list it in my blogroll (as soon as I wake up; give me a moment, please). Wish I’d been as brave as you when I was your age (I’m 60 now). So—go! Have fun! Learn those languages! It’ll all work out.

Oh wow thanks, I’m glad you liked it! I’m not always brave (like when confronting a bad boss) but this is the particular kind of bravery with which I’ve been bestowed, so I’m running with it. Here’s to hoping I’m trilingual by this time next year! Thanks for your positivity and I look forward to reading more of your blog x

hi Jamie, this caught my eye and I went over to your site and blog, loved ’em.
I caught the slight regret there, so want to say that I just turned 64 ,am married and settled, but have resolved to add a little more of Fille Pompette’s panache to my life (thank you young Fille). In Feb I’m going off to London and staying in hostels, soaking up some art, then down to another hostel in Sussex where, whatever the weather, I will go walking.
I have a dear friend who is still travelling the world at 90! so if you do feel a call, listen to it, at 60, you’re just a spring chicken dear- from some viewpoints anyway!

Love everything about what you just said. You are how old you are no matter what you do, so you might as well say to hell with it and have a good time! Have a blast in London, it’s one of my favorite places on the planet xx
